Oh Airbiscuits!: TAC OH Amish Country Rally

This past weekend we hosted The Airstreamer's Club Ohio contingent, 3rd Annual Amish Country Rally at Wayne County Fairgrounds in Wooster, Ohio. The weather as usual was iffy so we opted to not de winterize. 99% of the time, we fill our fresh water tank at home and we have no qualms about drinking from it or giving it to the dogs. However, since it was going to be below 32 degrees Thursday and Friday nights we opted to go with water in gallon jugs to use for water for the dogs and to flush toilets. The good thing about this fairgrounds is they give us use of a heated building with a kitchen to gather for meals and fellowship but also the use of heated showers and restrooms! So, not having a full fresh water tank was not a big deal. We packed like crazy Wednesday so that Thursday I could get up, pick up our order of four dozen donuts from IGA, and head south to Wooster. Mike had to be at work for the day on Thursday and would drive down right from work to join us. Mom & Dad followed me for the 45 minute road trip and upon arrival walked the area to figure out where we would be parking the expected 13 other units joining us. We got situated, paperwork with the fairgrounds was completed, keys were obtained for the Armstrong building and we were a go for the weekend of festivities! Our only monkey wrench was there was a dance troop that had reserved the Armstrong building for Thursday evening. That meant an alternate location was needed for our Thursday dinner with the hosts! The JAFB brewery was 1.5 miles away and it was there we would dine for the evening. Trailers began rolling in by noon and before too long we had two rows of silver (and biscuit) adorning the fairgrounds camp area.

On Friday, after donuts and coffee, Mike and I got to set off for some galavanting as we elected to stop at 61 Surplus which is a store for Amazon.com returns. I got some great items! We also found a paper towel dispenser for dad's workshop. We ran into Ken & Laurie there and then headed towards Dutch Valley Restaurant for lunch. Ken & I went with for the buffet while Mike & Laurie enjoyed some water loving animals. We then departed for the wineries on our list of todos and enjoyed some sampling at Breitenbach as well as Silver Moon. We ended up with a case of "the good stuff" to bring home. Then it was back to the campground for some last minute grocery shopping before the bean & weenies dinner we provide.

Saturday we headed off on girls shopping day with Mikie after donuts and coffee. We began our trip at Fin Feather Fur Outfitters, made some stops at some local chain and department stores then had lunch at Panara before Mike returned us to the campground. After some happy hour/trailer crawl fun as well as a game of cornhole (which i am HORRID at) we began prep for the evening festivites. Not only did we have a potluck planned, but we had a trailer park gift exchange as well as a raffle to help cover our costs for the rally. We were able to raffle off $104 in cold hard cash after we pulled out money to cover expenses. After lots of laughter it was time for a campfire before retiring for the evening.

Sunday morning brought our cereal bar and the departure of our silver friends until a later time in the season. Mike and I were the last to leave the area, it is amazing how our silver friends make sure everything is cleaned up before they take off and are sure to offer assistance if anything needs to be done.
